Serie A football, indeed all football in Italy shut down for one week on February 2nd. after an incident in Catania during the local derby with rivals Palermo, but as of today, February 6th. 2007, it's back to business with only one of our Serie A fixtures affected by the temporary suspension. Lazio v Chievo (Giornata 22) will now be played on April 18th.

Speculative media reporting worldwide has blurred the facts about football in Rome. The facts are that Serie A in Rome will continue as normal because the Stadio Olimpico is 1 of 4 Stadia in Italy that comply with the Legge Pisanu 2005 (Safety Standards Ruling). Cisco Roma home fixtures in Serie C2 will also continue as normal in the Stadio Flaminio.

The Coppa Italia Final/First Leg between Roma and Inter at the Stadio Olimpico will now be played on May 9th. All fixtures are correct and up-to-date and will be played at the appointed hour on the appointed date as normal. Existing orders are not affected in any way and we are taking orders for all fixtures as normal.

The James Richardson show on Bravo 2 is no more. It's high time Sky Sports looked a little more intuitively at Serie A, failing which here's hoping that Setanta will give the face of Italian football a permanent slot. Bravo is a tatty bloke 'n' birds budget channel that pulled a pitiful mean of 20k viewers per game. The main man continues to wax lyrical for The Guardian and other online entities but the sooner UK TV networks wise up to his unique and brilliant presentation of the powder keg that is Serie A football the better.
The shock loan of L'Aeroplanino to mediocre Premiership outfit Fulham has left Roma with goal virgin Vucinic and Valencia reject Francesco Tavano on bench warming duty. Vincenzo Montella, with 5 goals to his name this season was the only remaining 2001 Scudetto winner in the current Roma squad other than his former captain.

.kw lazio football tickets, lazio lotito tickets | www.romalazio.co.uk
The Irriducibili are on one this month, organising protests against Claudio Lotito at every turn. The reviled owner of Lazio football club struck a saving deal with Silvio Berlusconi in 2005 to repay massive tax debts in excess of €140,000,000 over 23 years to avoid the danger of significant public disorder in Rome had they been declared bankrupt and kicked out of Serie A, but whether demotion to Serie C1 or C2 would have incited thousands of Lazio fans to take to the streets and riot in the capital is debatable.
This colossal debt, a direct result of Cragnotti/Cirio financial corruption prior to 2002 and the subsequent Lotito deal is a burning issue with Lazio fans who would have preferred to see their club declared bankrupt and relegated, from where they could have played their way back into the financial security of Serie A within a few years.
However, this did not happen and now Lazio find themselves in the strange position of playing in Serie A with no money to buy new players and next to no marketing budget, a situation that is unlikely to change for a very long time indeed. On a more positive note, Lazio are contracted to Sky Italia this season which will alleviate some of the pressure.
The most damaging protest of all is the current boycott of Curva Nord season tickets by the Irriducibili. Lazio have sold somewhere in the region of 5,000 this year whereas 12 months ago they had sold over 30,000. Money is so tight at Lazio that the simple task of organising and taking both team and individual player photos for the current campaign has not been addressed. We are in the middle of scanning player pix from 'La Voce Della Nord' (Irriducibili match program), so in the coming weeks you'll be able to see up-to-date photos of the entire Lazio squad in action right here at romalazio.co.uk

buy football tickets as roma ss lazio
There is a not insignificant number of 'Irish' pubs in Rome, most of which are 'o.k.', none of which are overly spectacular but in all of which you're sure to find Guinness, Strongbow, Kilkenny and Sky Sports (ergo football 24/7), which is more often than not more than enough to please most.
We can recommend The Druid's Rock and The Druid's Den, The Black Falcon, The Old Marconi and The Fiddler's Elbow, all within eyeshot of Santa Maria Maggiore church. If you hike down Via Cavour from Termini station you'll find Finnegans Pub on Via Leonina (right outside Cavour Metro station on Linea B) and a little further down, The Shamrock will do their very best to make you feel at home with traditional fayre (burgers) and so much more, just a few hundred metres away from the mighty Colosseum. Not that you'll have time to enjoy all 7 watering holes but if a Rome pub crawl either before the game or preferably afterwards is your thing, now you know where to start (The Fiddler's Elbow) and where it ends (The Shamrock).

Between September and May it is not difficult to find cheap, good quality accommodation on your arrival in Rome if you choose not to book in advance through Alpha Rooms, Opodo or Expedia.
A number of companies based in the UK offer fans of italian football expensive 'Match Tickets & Hotel' packages and occasionally provide a 'Ticket Only' service similar to our own, but they generally charge between 25% and 50% more to watch football in the Stadio Olimpico, including but not limited to Red Card Events Football Encounters Fanfare Events Glory Days Online and Brilliant Weekends
